Confidentiality
Psychiatric treatment depends on privacy, and I take that responsibility seriously. I maintain the medical records for my practice personally so that no third party has access to them. I do not share information about your treatment without your written consent, except for the limited circumstances when required by law. Apart from the minimal information needed to send a prescription, I do not send your medical information elsewhere. When no prescription is needed and you choose not to submit to insurance for reimbursement, no information about your treatment ordinarily leaves my office.
My practice is governed by HIPAA. My Notice of Privacy Practices explains how your medical information may be used or disclosed and describes your rights.
If you have particular privacy concerns, please raise them; I am glad to discuss how to address them.
